The recent threats of war by North Korea’s Kim Jong-un have caused serious alarm in the international community and tensions to rise on the Korean peninsula. This is not the first time such threats have been made. Should they be taken seriously, or are they part of a pattern of diplomatic strategy? How real is the threat of war from North Korea?
Panelists:
Hon. Joseph DeTrani is President of Intelligence and
National Security Alliance (INSA) and former US Special Envoy for the Six-Party Talks with North Korea.
Ms. Bonnie S. Glaser is Senior Adviser for Asia, Freeman Chair in China Studies and Senior Associate, Pacific Forum at CSIS.
Mr. David Maxwell is Associate Director of the Center for Security Studies and the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University.
